Using Social Bookmarking To Funnel Targeted Traffic

Monday, May 17th, 2010

In order to produce a successful online business, you need to have high search engine rankings. It is very possible that you have a product to change the way of the world and you are offering it at unbelievable prices, however, if no one knows about you - it doesn’t sell. With this in mind, it is essential that you improve your marketing campaigns and increase the number of people who visit your site. This doesn’t take a lot of effort and if you take the right steps, all planned out, the benefits you can get are immense. Although there are many ways to do this, one of the most widely used and result oriented tactic is to leverage online social bookmarking sites. So how can your business begin benefitting from the use of social bookmarking sites? The process is actually quite simple. If you are able to get quality one way backlinks and increased targeted traffic from the social bookmarking sites, you will start seeing convertible visitors to your website from both direct and indirect sources. After a visitor finds your site, you simply need to convince them to buy something.

You also have to determine the results you are aiming for. Ask yourself whether your goal is to win a top position from a search engine. I know this can look like an impossible task, but with some hard work and a good strategy, you can make this happen. If you are ready to get started and want to know how to go about it, this article will help you get started on the road to successful social bookmarking and reap its benefits.

There are three major considerations that you must account for in order to use social bookmarking successfully. First of all, you have to have a good title. Remember, you are competing with lots of other information out there, so its important to create a title that catches the reader’s eye. It is an unfortunate fact that a lot of well-written content is never seen, due to the simple fact that the title was unappealing. If a title catches someone’s eye the odds are that they will at least skim the article to satisfy their curiosity.

Did you know your bookmark’s title does not have to be the same as the title of your article? It’s just not necessary. In fact, you should take advantage of this by giving it an eye catching title unless your title is already good enough. It is your bookmarks title that will be the main reason people decide to click though or simply move on. You need a title that will attract people attention enough that they want to go to your site and see what you have to offer. Remember, there are thousands of other sites bookmarked, so you title really has to stand out. In addition, it is advisable that you provide an intriguing description for your bookmark. This short description should intensify the main hook and should continue the “interesting streak” from the title. You want to make sure that you don’t give away a whole summary here, but just some information that will seal the deal and convince the reader to click and read. This strategy can work for driving traffic to not only articles but also to videos or blog posts. Don’t make the common mistake so many bloggers do: avoid bookmarking the home page of your blog from a social bookmarking site. It is foolish and ineffective to bookmark the home page. Once you do this, there’s not much room for further bookmarking. It can also become very random. Rather, you should bookmark a post that you want traffic driven to. Not only will users be more guided, but you will have a better understanding of which posts have attracted readers. It serves as a testing ground to know what they want to read. Regardless of what type of content you are linking, be it post or video, avoid the root domain and choose the exact URL.

In addition to this strategy, you can take advantage of online companies that have designed applications that will help you increase your marketing. If you are a member of various social media sites, like Twitter, it can be very difficult to build a following of thousands of people, let alone make regular update posts. For this purpose, there are free applications, as well as applications that can be purchased, that provide assistance for automating postings and developing a greater number of followers. There are other automated features included in these programs that may be very beneficial to your marketing attempts, it is up to you to decide how you use them and the benefits you get out of them.It may not be very obvious at first, but by coordinating your internet marketing efforts and social media sites, you can open a whole new world of possibilities, and take your internet marketing to a new level. You can stay one step ahead of your competitors, by successfully utilizing these social sites in conjunction with the appropriate applications to more effectively build your business.

Backlink Drip Feeding Explained

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Google and other search engines used backlinks as the primary way of determining how to rank sites. The more links, better targeted they are and higher authority they carry, the better the site will rank. However, things aren’t always that simple, and there are quite a few aspects that affect how good any particular backlink is.

Over time, Google has got much better at ranking sites and their algorithm has become highly refined. These days blindly throwing a ton of backlinks to a target page is not as effective as it used to be. In other articles I’ll discuss various factors that affect link quality, but for now I’ll focus on the linking pattern and introduce a technique known as link-spreading, or drip-feeding.

Google has a spider that is constantly running and crawling websites looking for new backlinks. It looks at each individual link but it is also monitoring the frequency and source of those links to establish any patterns. Google prefers links that it deems are natural. What is a natural link? As an example, you may have a site about cats and write a post about how to groom your Persian cat in the winter. You might start getting backlinks from bloggers in the cat niche, people might be stumbling your page, bookmarking it at a social site or tweeting it to their followers. These are ‘natural’ links.

These kinds of links look natural to Google because they are generated over a period of time in a fairly random pattern and they are located in different places. Google does not give as much credit to backlinks that look unnatural. For example, social bookmarking is one of the tools in the IMAutomator suite. An individual may have just one favourite bookmarking site but of course there are a great many and IMAutomator allows you to submit your bookmark to all of them. 50 backlinks is better than 1!

However, we don’t want those 50 links to be created all at once because Google sees this and deems it to be an unnatural linking pattern and thus doesn’t give those links as much credit as usual. The solution then, is to spread those backlinks out over time and this is what we call backlink spreading or backlink drip feeding and this is the technique that IMAutomator uses.

Are there any downsides to this strategy?

There are always at least two sides to any story! Another benefit of posting backlinks to sites such as social bookmarking sites is that it is a great way to help your article get indexed in the search engines and this is particularly useful if you’re posting links to a brand new site. If you spread the links out over a long time, it may take a while for the page / site to get indexed.

Another potential downside is that if you are writing about a hot new trend, and your links come in slowly, Google may not realise that you are on top of that trend. Some topics, such as the cat example I used earlier are timeless as you’ll always have cats that need grooming, but current affairs, news, celebrity gossip etc is much more timely. Google spots these trends by looking for a flurry of links going into many sites all posting on the same topic. In this case it is actually beneficial to build some backlinks quicker so that Google sees your article as part of the trend. These tend to rank more highly for a little while.

So is there a formula to determine how many links should be created in any given period? In a word, no - it’s just not set in stone. The approach IMAutomator takes is to give you the flexibility to choose your linking frequency. If you want a quick submission, you can set it to complete in one day or you can choose to spread it out over a number of days. You are in control.

The IMAutomator social bookmarking tool (and new tools will operator in the same way) allows you to pick the number of days to spread your submission when you enter your bookmark into the system. That bookmark is submitted to a number of social bookmarking sites and these will always change around a little bit. Sites come and go sometimes but the database is always updated with fresh sites.

IMAutomator is a free tool that automates the task of link building to your website. It contains a social bookmarking tool which submits your bookmarks to many sites in a completely automated fashion. Create your free IMAutomator account now!

BREAKING NEWS: A message for all Wordpress Bloggers

About me

I evaluate Internet Marketing strategies and tactics as a full time profession. Every month thousands of people who are starting out or working full time in Internet Marketing send questions to my blog. I know a lot of people who are making difficult sacrifices at the moment and whilst I am making a half decent income on the net from my work I am more and more doing what I can to assist others to avoid the mistakes, choose the right strategies and get off to a good start.

Unfortunately a substantial number of Internet Marketing content and tools I evaluate doesn’t do what it says on the ‘tin’. Until now I have restricted publishing my experiences to a tiny group of sites because their owners have been very helpful in helping me with my testing.

Over Six hundred products tested

This represents just over six hundred ‘products’ that I have reviewed over a period of nearly five years, obviously a number of them are obsolete and I will only be including ‘products’ that are still available. Every product review is a direct result of me using the product in anger and naturally I will be sharing the rough and the smooth with my audience.

Simple to use and organised catalog

To help you make the decisions that will work best for you I am going to organise the product summaries into a simple and easy to use framework and every product will be classified by the amount of  knowledge required, price, effort and how soon you can expect to see results.

First Review - The ‘blueprint’ for Wordpress blog success

The first subject I’m going to dive into is Wordpress Blogs as this is not just a great subject for newbies to begin but a lot of blog owners don’t realise the opportunities they are missing. Everyone should have a blog and I am passionate about blogging as a large portion of my income comes from blogs but and however I am fully aware that setting up a blog can be a little bit tricky so if you join my list I will walk you through step by step how to do it.

Create once and replicate

The great thing about blogs is once you know how they really can work and make cash you simply replicate the blog mechanics over and over again to multiply your income stream. But getting the first blog right is fundamental and this is where you need a really good understanding how to design a ‘blueprint blog’ and what Internet Marketing ‘products’ and strategies you need to build a solid foundation for growth and a regular income.

No bullshit, just answers.

So if you own a Wordpress blog or you want some practical and personal guidance with your choice of Internet Marketing products then please do sign up to my list at www.backlinksclinic.com.

link building

I am giving free training and mentoring to folks who are struggling with getting traffic to their sites, here’s why.

Although very motivated at the time I have uncomfortable memories of designing and setting up my first web presence back in 2000. Anyone who embarks upon the challenge of creating a web site should get a helping hand. Implementing your first web site can be quite scary if you are not sure how to proceed.

Things like understanding the influence of back links and keywords, how they affect Google page rankings and page authority, and the correlation between these and visitor volumes are complicated and often badly presented by the majority of self proclaimed guru’s on the web. I have discovered so many people on and offline who would like to do this and simply don’t have the know how that I am compelled to take some action.

After years and years of toiling on the net, uncovering, learning and practising methods to develop successful web presences by driving large volumes of searchers. I suddenly discovered I wanted to teach.

I have been thinking about this for about twelve months now and whenever I have had some available time I have been producing my teaching material. Every one who is not sure where to start or already developing a web site wants a quick win, I’m no different and therefore whenever I have come across really good material and tools that work I am going to direct my students at these rather than try and reinvent the wheel.

Everything I have tried and tested that has produced good or excellent results will be included in my training material and where there are gaps I have filled them in. Obviously along the way I have created some techniques, tools and methods of my own that I consistently use which I will be including in the training.

backlinks

Call me mad (I am not) but I am offering people who are struggling with their web sites and getting visitor traffic free help and guidance, here is my justification.

I remember clearly the trials and tribulations of designing my first web site. Anyone who embarks upon the challenge of developing a web site should get a helping hand. Establishing your first web site can be a real challenge if you are unsure how to proceed.

Things like understanding the significance of back links and keywords, how they alter Google page rankings and page authority, and the relationships between these and traffic volumes are difficult to grasp and consistently badly presented by significant numbers of “experts” on the internet. I keep meeting people who want to create a business or build a presence on the web so I have set out to do something about it.

I am lucky enough to have spent a significant amount of time uncovering, gathering, evaluating, studying and mastering the large selection of different tools and methods for establishing a web site, attracting visitors to my web sites and constantly refining my techniques. I suddenly discovered I wanted to teach.

I have been getting ready this for about twelve months now and whenever I have had some down time I have been creating my teaching material. Most people who is starting out or already establishing a web site wants a quick win, I’m no different and therefore whenever I have come across excellent content and tools that work I am going to direct my students at these rather than try and reinvent the wheel.

Everything I have evaluated that has produced good or excellent results will be included in my educational material and where there are gaps I have filled them in. Why back links are important to search engines

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

backlinks

Before putting any effort whatsoever into creating any web pages you should have considered how you intend to get people to visit and ‘consume’ your content. It doesn’t matter if you’re in business, indulging in a hobby or trying to inform others with your web pages you are going to want to attract the attention of other people. You want the majority of visitors to come from search engines. Certainly the lowest cost and best targeted traffic will always be brought to you by the search engines.

Search engine revenues rely upon the accuracy and relevance of the results they deliver to their users. Searchers will return over and over again to a search engine that delivers the most relevant results. The more often the searchers return the greater the search engines fortunes. Your task is to work to achieve similar goals for your web pages.Get more users and get them to return often.

So how do you do this?. There are two paths to achieving this and the good news is you can if you have the money do both. You can submit high quality content to the web or you can use advertising often called Pay Per Click (PPC) or in the case of Google ‘adwords’.

Search engines have a simple philosophy that nothing exists on the web without a keyword or a key phrase . Search engines perform searches based upon the keyword or key phrase entered by the user. The search engine scans its index of web pages and returns the web pages it has decided are most relevant to the keyword or key phrase. The search engines decision about what pages to display in the results are based upon two key factors relevance and authority.

Relevance means the page contains the keywords and authority means the page has back links to it from other web pages. The order of the list of results displayed by a search engine are conducive with the authority and volume of the back links to each page.

Back links determine the fate of a web page and are a key consideration.

Back links have two major functions – routing traffic to your web pages and helping the search engines determine the ranking of your web pages in the results returned by a user search. Users will follow links they find in content if the back link is labelled with relevant text. This text in the back link is known as ‘anchor text’ and this too is taken into consideration by the search engines. Back links can vary in value.

The authority on the page from which a back links originates can influence the potency of the link to your web page. The higher the authority of the linking pages, the higher is the authority passed to your pages.

Back links – the sledge hammers of search engine optimisation

link building

The main goal of any web site should be to get attention and get as many people as you can to visit your web site. Be it selling a product or service or conveying an opinion or information you want to get attention and this means getting traffic. You need a significant proportion of your traffic to come from the search engines. The most economical and focused traffic is delivered by the search engines.

Search engines make money through presenting searchers with answers they are looking for. The delivery of relevant and accurate results to searchers is the key objective for search engines and is a major factor is maintaining and increasing user loyalty. User loyalty directly translates to a stronger brand and higher revenues for the search engines. Your task is to work to achieve similar goals for your web pages.Persuade users to come back to your web pages over and over again.

So how do you do this?. There are two methods that you can use. You can submit high quality content to the web or you can use advertising often called Pay Per Click (PPC) or in the case of Google ‘adwords’.

Without a keyword or a key phrase search engines will simply ignore content. The whole user experience starts with a keyword or key phrase being entered into the search engine to tell it what the user is looking for. The search engine scans its index of web pages and returns the web pages it has decided are most relevant to the keyword or key phrase. All search engines determine what will be returned in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) by using two measures authority and relevance.

Relevance is a function of the keywords in the text of the webpage and authority is determined by the number and type of back links . The number and authority of the back links to a web page help the search engine determine the position the web page will occupy in the list of pages.

Back links are the sledge hammers of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).

Back links have two key uses – influencing the search engines ranking decisions and directing traffic to your web site from other internet properties. Users finding web pages with back links to your web page will click on your back links and visit your site if the keyword text in your back link is relevant to what they are searching for. ‘Anchor text’ is the name given to the text label on a back link and is used by the search engines in assessing the value of a back link. Back links fall into a range of values that are derived from origin and anchor text.

Back links from web pages that contain content related to your web page have an impact on the authority of your web page. The more authority a web page has the more authority is passed on to you.

Links Rule Over Content

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

I am sure that by now you have heard the old phrase content is king.  There has been a lot of questionable material being offered to people and I am offering you a way to avoid the whole mess.

I know this article is not what you are probably used to hearing but it’s true.  Because they aren’t my sites, I won’t give their names.  However, I will reveal to you some things that I have discovered and why content is NOT King but ONE WAY LINKS ARE KING!

Here’s the deal I have recently started working for a new client because their pages couldn’t seem to get to the first page of Google so I took the challenge and went to work for them.

As with any new client I take a look at what they’re already doing and I was appalled they even were able to get the rankings they currently had.  All of the content was extremely poorly written as if someone with no or very limited English speaking and writing skills had attempted to write the article.  There were even hints and some evidence pointing to some of the content being created by a cheap and crappy version of an article spinner and maybe even a free spinner.

Due to poor keyword research by the previous SEO guy many of these pages were attempting to compete for very competitive keywords.

My kindergartner could do this with the free article spinner we downloaded in a couple minutes from download com.

This site was such a mess, with problems ranging from the absence of a site map to faulty internal links, that I don’t even know where to begin.

So here’s what’s immediately clear from this result, if content was King there is no way in heck that those pages belonged on the first page of any search engine, not to mention Google!  So after this exhaustive research what conclusions can we draw?

The only thing you can look at causing these sites to rank was the mass amount of one-way links from other domains they had pointing to these individual pages on their site.  So then I looked at their sites that couldn’t make it to the first page of Google and found the Same non-English content but NO LINKS.

So basically I just reverse engineered all the links from those pages which were ranking and pointed links from those domains to the pages my client had which weren’t ranking and sure enough there rankings climbed.

My primary aim is to make them understand that they can get fast results. I will now get them quality links from power and authority domains. Their sites will stay in their first page rankings.

Needles to say, I now have been given their entire SEO duties and web 2.0 marketing department and at the same time I have found the secret to SEO, LINKS, LINKS and more LINKS!

How to Get Your Back Links Counted

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

Alright, so you’ve had your timer set up so you know that you have spent the best part of an hour writing and making your carefully made piece of literary brilliance. So, the first step is to always submit your article, due to a number of simple reasons it makes a sensible first port of call.

For example, if you key “allen jesson” into Google, you will be surprised that at the time of writing, I am listed around 18,100 times (Results 1 - 10 of about 18,100 for “allen jesson”). So, 18.1K pages have a mention of yours truly. However, the most interesting part is that the number 1 spot belongs to my author page on a certain article directory. That’s how much Google loves this article directory! These sites even outrank those websites that I own! So, I think I have made my case for submitting your article. For top seo services, it’s a sensible move. Google will more than likely pick up the article and your link that is shown in the author’s resource box will be counted as a bona fide back link to your site. You will also get visitors direct from that link on the article web site and you will also get visitors and web traffic when your article is published on other people’s sites and blogs (you can see how many times that happens in the member’s area).

But what about the all important back links? Will they get counted again when they are published on other people’s sites? The good news to this is that you will get more visitors and also more exposure. The bad news is that it is accepted wisdom that Google will see that secondary publication as ‘duplicate’ content and will only give proper and true value value to the link it first found from that article, namely the one published on the first article directory.

But there are things you can do. For example, there are other article directories out there. In my opinion, once you are trying to build counted back links, there is a little value in resubmitting the very same article to a number of the other article directories. Of course, you will get visitors from those people who see your article on those other article directories (and other sites that publish your article as a result being seen on those article directories) BUT you wont get any more back links counted. So what do you do?

There is actually a simple solution to this problem. Look, you’ve done the hard work, writing your original article. You’ve come up with the idea, the basic theme of your article. So, now all you need to is to rearrange your thought patterns a little and rewrite your article and come up with another completely new article. Don’t submit that rewritten article to the same place, submit it elsewhere. Then keep rewriting and submitting elsewhere. By the time you have 6 rewritten articles, then you probably have a new article, with new ideas and themes, one which could be resubmitted to your original directory, so therefore starting the whole process again.

Of course, there are other ways that are much quicker when it comes to this problem and certainly there are methods are part of what we teach but if you use the above strategy you will start to see your back links in Google steadily climb and then everything else will follow, even the most coveted prize, which is the number 1 spot in Google.

Automated Marketing Strategies For Newbies

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Marketing on the Internet can be a brutal and vicious experience as you may well know. Making the right decision on how to go about doing your task can sometimes mentally exhaust ones mind. The first thing you need to do is figure out what type of marketing you want to do, then find the right tool to accomplish this task and just stick with it. Don’t let your mind play tricks on you from staying focused.

Although this sometimes may seem difficult. Don’t worry, just set your mind at ease and stay focused at the task at hand. I know I’ve been there. I always thought I had to do everything at one time and all I ended up doing was getting confused and not accomplishing anything. I’ve wasted a lot of valuable time wondering and pondering to much when I should have just stayed focused and been more productive. Here’s what I’m talking about.

When marketing a website or blog there are really only four major marketing strategies. Article marketing, send to RSS feeds, send to social booking marking sites such as Facebook, My Space etc. and submit to major web 2.0 sites such as Wordpress, Hubpages, Squidoo etc.. If you do all these things you will create 1000’s of backlinks to your sites and can make a pretty good living for yourself.

This may seem like a lot of and trouble, but if you just take one step at a time it will be well worth your time and effort. It doesn’t really matter what order you do them in, but I tend to do the RSS feeds and social booking sites first because they don’t take as much thought and they take considerably less time then the other two procedures, and I like to get something out there as quickly as possible to start building those backlinks.

These are all free ways of gaining traffic and backlinks to your site, so I would suggest investing a little money to make your life easier by getting some automation tools to help speed up the process. Automation is the key in today,s marketing world and you will be left behind if you don’t use them. Getting the right tools can literally save you hours and weeks of precious time so you can move onto your next project. If your on a low budget then just get one tool at a time, eventually you will have everything you need in your arsenal to complete your all your marketing tasks.

Right now I am only using 4 tools out of the thousands that are out there. I have spent months researching and testing different ones and I feel I am using the best products out there for the money. Even if I had an unlimited supply of advertising capitol the only thing I would do differently would be to ad one more product to my list. Other then that I am totally satisfied with the results my tools give me. They work!.

The tools I use are very reasonable in price. One of them is a monthly subscription of $67 dollars, One is absolutely free and the other two only cost me a little under $200 for the both of them. That is pretty cheap seeing I get thousands of backlinks from them and can keep using them over and over again for different projects. Even though I didn’t get them all at one time they were definitely worth the wait. I am now seeing success.

So what this all boils down to is, you can start seeing success in you ventures if you put your heart into it and be patient. Stay focused and don’t let your mind be distracted on every new baby that comes on the market. Find something that works for you and your budget and stick with it. You may run into some learning curves, but face them head on, jump over that hurdle and move on. If you do these things you will have success.

This just goes to show you that the tools I use must be doing something right if you are reading this article. Take the time to take a look at them at www.bestarticlesubmitters.com
